Part of the Neomitología sintética series, this sculptural portrait celebrates the beauty of a Mexican woman. Light and shadow shape her cheekbones, brows, and lips into sharply defined planes, as though light itself had carved her features. Seen from below, she takes on a monumental presence, while the pointed rays of the sunburst extend her face into the surrounding white space. In the mythology the series imagines, her beauty takes on the form of the sun. Its radiance comes from the quiet composure with which she meets our gaze.
